THE Alsterhaus
THE ALSTERHAUS –
THE DEPARTMENT STORE ON THE JUNGFERNSTIEG
When the Hermann Tietz department store opened its doors in Hamburg on April 24, 1912, it immediately became known throughout the city, enchanting the people of Hamburg with its dazzling lights and extensive range of products. Its high standards of quality would endure — well beyond the year 1936, when it received the name Alsterhaus.
Today, Alsterhaus presents itself across 24,000 square meters in an exclusive setting that combines historical architecture with contemporary interior design. As part of multi‑year renovation works based on designs by Kleihues + Kleihues, the store received a fundamentally new structure starting in 2016.
Local and international guests can expect a unique mix of designer fashion, beauty, food, travel goods, and interior design.
